Dana Smith's show blends juggling, original,
awe-inspiring acrobatics and even an occasional song played on the ukulele. Polished and
apparently improvised comedy evokes giggles from even the most mature and sophisticated
audiences. Always charming and gracious, Dana's remarkable stage personality launches his
show into a league of its own.
In 1974 Dana joined forces with the legendary Royal Lichtenstein
Quarter-Ring Sidewalk Circus. Thirty-seven states, one hundred and ten cities, and more
than three hundred performances later, this cutting-edge three man troupe closed their
season in California.
Twenty-five years later Dana is still working as a comic variety artist.
He is widely regarded to be one of the leading performers responsible for the renaissance
of street theater and a world-class New Vaudeville entertainer.
The
qualities that are incorporated in a great act often include comic
energy, personal likeability, skillfulness and originality. After nearly
three decades of touring and performing Dana Smith has blended
the best of these elements into his show.
Each part of the act has been revised and polished in
front of audiences hundreds and hundreds of times each year. This
constant practicing under all kinds of circumstances breeds a form of
excellence that results in an audience pleasing entertainment. The
result of this family style entertainment is that you get a show that
engages and delights any age group. The simplicity of Smith's work and
its versatility will often surprise. It is a sure fire-can't miss-never
let up-take them by the seat of their pants one man show.
The show presently mixes fire juggling and circus arts
into a fast paced, eye catching entertainment. Lacey the Performing Dog
mixes up this one-two punch leaping from her perch for the shows finale.
Dana sings "How Much is That Doggie in the
Window" accompanying himself on ukulele while Lacey graces the song
with her timely barks. The show concludes with Lacey leaping over as
many as seven children!
Dana Smith mixes juggling and his trick dog Lacey into
a funny and full-hearted romp of a show. He blends audience
participation and improvisation with carefully crafted juggling
routines. This gives the show new excitement and polish with every
presentation.
The show is infused with a sly undercurrent of virtue
and spirit. On one level the show is nothing more than entertainment,
but upon closer examination there is something more here than meets the
eye. The show is an affirmation of what is right and good with humankind
-- and demonstrated in a show by a man juggling and a dog performing.
