With more than two dozen chart hits to her credit, Lesley Gore helped create the soundtrack to the Sixties with hits like "Judy's Turn To Cry," "She's A Fool," "That's The Way Boys Are," "You Don't Own Me" and her classic smash hit, "It's My Party," the song that skyrocketed her to fame in 1963 at the age of 16.

Lesley still sings those songs "as if I first heard them
yesterday," but it's no exercise in nostalgia. Having expanded her career into
songwriting and acting, in addition to her concert performances, she is celebrating the
best years of her life and career.
"Yes, there is life after records," she says happily, "and I'm a perfect example." Her songwriting has earned her an Oscar nomination for co-writing (with her brother Michael Gore) the hit single "Out Here On My Own" for the film "Fame." The song has been produced as "covers" by some of the leading female vocalists, including Dusty Springfield, Bernadette Peters and Patti Austin.
Lesley Gore has appeared as an actress on stage in musicals and dramas, playing Catwoman's sidekick in the cult TV comedy "Batman," as well as playing herself on "The Donna Reed Show." She maintains a first-class career as a concert attraction, and recorded a single on Manhattan Records with her friend Lou Christie, "Since I Don't Have You"/"It's Only Make Believe."
A two-record album of her greatest hits was released on Rhino Records and she knows "I can still make great records, because I approach the material now just as I did back then. I'm still basically pop and basically rock. When I hear a great song, I say to myself, I could have cut that in the Sixties, or I could have cut that right now."
Having learned the things she didn't know when she was a young recording star, Lesley finally returned to her native New York, working when she wants and where she wants. When not on the road or on stage, she is constantly composing, which has become somewhat of a passion for her.
The girl, who once wanted to cry at her own party, is today all smiles. The teen trauma embodied in "It's My Party" is long a thing of the past, though the song still creates an instant bond between Lesley and the millions of fans who grew up with and maybe lived the story of the song. "I thought the sixties were great, but for us teens they were also troublesome times. Since I was a teenager dealing with those problems, I chose the songs I sang from a gut reaction something I could relate to."
For Lesley, not only does she have the wonderful memories of her career from the 1960's, but also the exciting, special times of her career today.
Lesley Gore is a composer, performer and recording artist, whose record sales have surpassed 25 million. Her versatility made her a television and film star. She continues to write for film. Her talents have been recognized for decades through ticket sales, pop charts, and an Oscar nomination for composing.
Lesley Gore has been profiled by A&E's Biography series, featured in countless magazines and music publications, and credited with paving the way for the empowered female vocalists of the past few decades.

About ...
Lesley Gore
The New York Daily News:
"Lesley Gore is gold. It was a wake-up shot in the arm to watch her jump on stage and belt forth a high energy set that bounced and swung."
The Gannett Newspapers:
"Lesley Gore is the consummate musician. Her show is smashing. Her sense of showmanship is great. She earned the first standing ovation I have seen at the normally staid Rainbow & Stars. Not only that, she got two standing ovations. She sent chills up the spines of her audience. She is a powerhouse."
The New York Post:
"Gore and company completely blow the roof off Rainbow & Stars. The audience reaction strongly suggests she could be back on the charts in no time. She is nothing if not accomplished at conveying the depth of meaning in a song. There is a sense of purpose her. It is the heart of rock 'n' roll."
