Albert Phillips & The Divine Messengers
were organized in 1991 by Albert Phillips and Kevin Wheeler, then
later joined by Mickey Slade, Tony Brown, Sidney Toland, Gerod, Sean
Chase, Chris Robinson and Tony Greenhowe.
Albert Phillips & the Divine Messengers clearly
reflect the beauty and versatility of God's power and love by
performing traditional and contemporary gospel music. The group's
first album included the instant hit "Victory," which vaulted the "Victory" album to number 18 on the Billboard
Gospel chart. The album was a huge success.
Albert Phillips & The
Divine Messengers was nominated for the 1997 GMWA (Gospel Music
Workshop America) "Excellence Awards" for New Artist of the
Year and Quartet of the Year, 1997 Dove Award for New Artist of the
Year, 1998 Soul Train award, and local awards from the Washington DC
Area Quartet Association and has charted the billboard four times.
